Recently I finished reading Nowhere Man by John M Green.

I wanted to read this book for a couple of reasons. Firstly I had read good reviews, but mostly because I know the person who wrote it!

I grew up with John’s daughter Alison (co-founder of Pantera Press) and so was thrilled when I received my copy and proceeded to get reading.

The long and the short of the story is Michael goes missing and Sonya sets off on an intriguing adventure trying to locate him and discover the reason for his disappearance. It is set in the semi-recent GFC and I loved the fact that while there was lots of stock market related lingo etc, I didn’t find myself scratching my head. The language was uncomplicated, but not “dumbed-down” at all.

The funny thing about reading a book written by someone you know is that even if you try, its sometimes hard not to insert people, locations and situations from your head into the book. I found myself walking around the Green’s home in my head as opposed to the home in the book - but all of that made the book just as fun to read. Once I got that out of my head, I really felt like I could immerse myself into the characters and their lives. (Poor Sonya!)

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading.
